It is the goal of The K-12 Teachers Alliance to provide you with these types of sources, delivered to you with a helpful, quick overview of what to expect on each site, accompanied by an easy access link. Lesson Plans 4 Teachers http://www.lessonplans4teachers.com This site will link you to the Web's top-rated lessons in just about every subject. You will also find links for help with lesson planning and finding lessons. Also useful are the rubrics, grade book software suggestions, and information about online education degrees. LessonPlanz.com http://www.lessonplanz.com A huge site aiming to be the resource for online lesson plans. This site currently links to thousands of lesson plan pages, all hand picked and reviewed by the author of the site. The plans are logically categorized and easy to find. A very good site. AskERIC Lesson Plans http://askeric.org/Virtual/Lessons/ AskERIC offers more than 2,000 lesson plans submitted by practicing teachers in these general categories: Arts, Educational Technology, Foreign Language, Health, Interdisciplinary, Language Arts, Mathematics, Physical Education, Science, Social Studies, and Vocational Education. Awesome Library http://www.awesomelibrary.org/ Featuring more than 22,000 links, each main category in the Awesome Library collection has a section on lesson plans, and each lesson plan section contains many links to lesson plans on the web. Be sure to check out the other sections — they may not be lesson plans, but there are a lot of good teacher resources in there. Grandpa Tucker's Rhymes and Tales http://www.grandpatucker.com/ This website is full of amusing tales, stories, songs, and rhymes. The Poetry Pencil is particularly worthwhile, consisting of poems submitted by children. KidsRead.com http://www.kidsreads.com This is a wonderful site for the avid young reader. KidsRead offers information on kids' favorite books, series, and authors. The site is well designed and information is easy to find. There are also games, book reviews, and contests. Literary Resources on the Net http://andromeda.rutgers.edu/~jlynch/Lit/ Almost anything you want to find about literacy is categorized (e.g., Renaissance, American, Theatre and Drama, Women's Literature, etc.) — a good place to start your research. Busy Teacher's K-12 Website http://www.ceismc.gatech.edu/busyt This is one of the best meta-sites on the web, featuring hundreds of links to education-related websites. This site has been redesigned to be more easily navigated. Chalkboard http://thechalkboard.com The Chalkboard lists free educational resources offered by corporations, including curricular materials, programs, and services. The site also has information on funding opportunities and job positions. Creative Teaching http://www.creativeteachingsite.com The Creative Teaching website offers articles, ideas, and information on teaching styles and creative teaching methods. There are also free handouts, humorous pieces, and other free materials. A to Z Teacher Stuff http://atozteacherstuff.com More than one million visitors a month visit this site to peruse the many resources for the teacher candidate and the practicing teacher, including teacher tips, thematic units and lesson plans, and suggested book activities. BiblioCat Webpage http://www.bibliocat.org/ A mega-site of education-related links, all nicely categorized and of interest to librarians, teachers, homeschoolers and parents. You can browse by subject or search the site by keyword. Iloveteaching.com http://www.iloveteaching.com/ Full of practical advice and good tips, iloveteaching.com is a good stop for the new teacher. Among the many articles are pieces on student teaching, how to write lesson pans, mentoring, and methods of observation. Learner.org http://www.learner.org/ The result of the collaboration between The Annenberg Foundation and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Learner.org helps teachers increase their expertise and improve their teaching methods. The Teacher's Lab section, http://www.learner.org/teacherslab/, is the standout of this site as it offers modules on the science of light, space and shape geometry, patterns in math, and the private universe. Teachers First http://www.teachersfirst.com Teachers First offers information to use in the classroom and to use in your professional development. There are many links to pertinent websites and many lesson plans neatly categorized. Teachers Helping Teachers http://www.pacificnet.net/~mandel A private site that offers teachers the opportunity to exchange tips about instruction, classroom management, and anything else that goes on in the classroom. More than just lesson plans! The Lighthouse for Education http://www.thelighthouseforeducation.co.uk/home.htm Although this website serves a school district in England, you will find useful features such as the education web links organized by subject area, the teacher information pages including the best practices links, and the search engine. Teaching & Learning on the WWW http://www.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/tl A searchable archive of more than 800 examples of how the World Wide Web is being used as a medium for learning. You can search by subject area and see how other teachers are using the web to help their students learn. Education World http://www.education-world.com Education World is a search engine for education-related sites. These websites are submitted to the engine and then placed in categories (you can also search all the categories). Monthly "best" sites are picked and viewing these lists can be a good way to find quality sites. Education Planet http://www.educationplanet.com Education Planet, like Education World, is a search engine for education-related websites. This site features sections on Top Sites, most popular searches, current education news, and much more. |
